Underprivileged teenagers receive gift from Ravenscroft

Ravenscroft is providing an extra Christmas present for 22 local teenagers.

Each year, youngsters living in low income households receive gifts from a number of local initiatives but teenagers are often outside of the age limits. Children and Family Community Services identified 22 youngsters deserving of a gift.

‘Once again, the Guernsey community has come together to generously support the Tree of Joy and Island FM’s Toy Appeal which provides presents at Christmas for low income families who can financially struggle at this time of year. What we don’t want is for teenagers living within these households to miss out and so we are incredibly grateful to Ravenscroft for once again providing vouchers. The youngsters will definitely enjoy spending them,’ said Sherry Summers, family support worker, Children and Family Community Services.

Ravenscroft’s group managing director, Mark Bousfield, said the company wanted to do something special this Christmas.

‘We have supported Island FM’s Christmas Toy Appeal for a number of years and this year launched the same initiative in Jersey with Channel 103 and we have been humbled by how many gifts have been brought to our offices to donate to those less fortunate. It was important that no-one missed out and so we are delighted to work with Children and Family Community Services again this year.’
