Junior Cricket - Guernsey and Isle of Man

In 2018 Ravenscroft became the sponsor of the Guernsey Cricket Future Stars intiative, aimed at encouraging youngsters to develop a passion for cricket. The programme, which is for girls and boys aged from five to eight, introduces the skills of cricket through various fun based drills.

The programme has been hugely successful on the island and in 2020 a record number of 139 took part in the summer course with 74 joining the winter programme.

Following this success we appproached the Isle of Man cricket board to develop a partnership for its CricStart programme, which covers CricKids for youngsters aged 3 – 6, CricSoft for those between six and 10, CricFit for 14+, the batting and bowling clinics as well as women’s and girls’ cricket.

‘The support from Ravenscroft is incredible as it allows us to offer more sessions and develop our plans so that as many young people as possible can enjoy the sport, learn new skills and enjoy the camaraderie of a team sport.’ said IOMCA development officer Greig Wright.

Anyone interested in signing up for any of the CricStart should email iomcricket@hotmail.com

Ravenscroft and Guernsey Cricket are continuing their partnership through to 2023.

‘It’s obvious just how much fun the youngsters have when they are at Future Stars and we hope that by Ravenscroft continuing its support, we can encourage girls and boys to be active and healthy, learn new skills and enjoy being part of a team. The programme has already identified a number of talented youngsters who will hopefully develop a lifelong passion for cricket,’ said Robin Newbould, COO of Ravenscroft.
