New head of discretionary for Ravenscroft in Jersey

David Le Cornu has joined Ravenscroft as Head of Discretionary, a new role which will focus on growing the discretionary investment management team and client base in the island.

Mr Le Cornu has worked in the finance industry since 1978 and has more than 25 years’ experience in investment management.

‘David is one of the industry’s most experienced investment professionals and that will be important as we focus on our discretionary offering in Jersey and continue the growth we have had in recent years. As a group, Ravenscroft now has five offices across four jurisdictions with £7.75bn assets under administration. Jersey was the second of the offices to open but still offers opportunity for further growth and I am confident that David’s experience, knowledge, contacts and enviable reputation will be invaluable,’ said Haydn Taylor, Managing Director of Ravenscroft in Jersey.

A Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Securities and Investment Institute, Mr Le Cornu joins Ravenscroft from Brooks Macdonald where he was a senior investment director.

‘Ravenscroft is a company I have watched grow over the past few years and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join a company which has such an evident entrepreneurial spirit which fosters team work and a can do culture,’ he said.

‘The differentiated investment process was a definite attraction for me as it avoids the trap of being UK centric and the thematic overlay ensures we are focused on the long game and are not too distracted by short-term noise in investment markets. The clear and concise trends and themes investment process will be extremely appealing to Jersey investors who want to understand their portfolios but like the comfort of having accessible and knowledgeable managers.'.

In his new role, Mr Le Cornu will work closely with the Channel Islands’ discretionary investment management team to grow the Jersey business by nurturing private client and intermediary relationships and supporting business development.

‘More than 25 years in investment management means I have had first-hand experience of a number of investment cycles. I hope to use this knowledge to support Ravenscroft, the team and most importantly our clients as we navigate our way out of a global pandemic. It’s an exciting time to be joining a business which has a great future ahead of it.’

Outside of work, Mr Le Cornu, who is married with two grown up sons, is a keen trekker and hopes to finally go to Borneo and Nepal in 2022 having originally planned to in 2020. He is treasurer for the Good Companions Club in Jersey and is also involved in a number of other charities.
